The man standing on the left of the image is Victor Antonio Cornejo Arango, who later became his appointment secretary during his stint at President of the Assembly. Behind them is a flag that reads, "ARENA." He declared victory at 11:00pm. D'Aubuisson wears a bulletproof vest after he was grazed by a bullet. In 1993, a report published by the United Nations Commission on the Truth for El Salvador established that it was Roberto D'Aubuisson Arrieta who gave the order to assassinate Archbishop Óscar Arnulfo Romero in 1980.
