Description
"Ein Hochofen, in dem früher das Eisenerz zerschmolzen und von Schlacke gereinigt wurde." ("A furnace where in former times iron ore was melted and cleaned of slag.") In the center: a furnace about 2,5 meters high, tapering at the top. On the left: a man standing beside it. In the background: a dense forest.
Werner Hauffe (1909-1982) was a carpenter and later a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. From 1933 to 1939, he served in Rungwe, Utengule and Isoko. In Utengule, he was an assistant to Brother Gemuseus. In 1937, he married Irmgard Wolff.
