Photograph caption dated October 7, 1955 reads, "David M. Stern, Gordon Enterprises design engineer, left, discusses camera lens with Chief Warrant Officer Bernard Singer, U. S. Navy. Singer is in charge of procurement of cameras and photo equipment from Gordon Enterprises of North Hollywood to be used during two-year Navy Antarctic expedition embarking Nov. 1. Navy will photograph and map entire Antarctic, most of which is still unexplored."
