Description
"The barn was built in 1953 by a one-armed man named Tex Matthews. He had accidentally shot his left arm and it had to be removed just above the wrist. The white fence post is seen outlining our property to the left below the barn. Zuma Beach is just over the hills below. During December 27, 1956 fire, our home was spared because it was made of stucco and with larger white rocks on the roof. But, as you can see, the barn was made rough out of wood. The fire began on the right side by the side door. The firemen were right behind the fire and put out the small fire which saved the barn. We turned the horses out of the barn so they could be free to flee the fire." [Editor's note: This is the barn at the Smith ranch at 29714 Harvester Road Barn in Malibu]. complete;
