Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Gershon. Date: 1952-05-07. Assignment: Return of USS Rochester. D17: Lieutenant Thomas Graham, USN, kisses wife Marilyn as he came ashore from USS Rochester, back from second tour of Korea duty. (Their home is 4350 Graywood Avenue,Long Beach)".
Supplementary material reads: "Gershon. Rochester -- 1 & 2: Mrs. Frank Lorraine Price, left, 339 1/2 South Comstock Avenue, is holding Kathleen, eight months, in her arms as she is looking over mother's shoulder away from her father, Frank, on the ship, who had not seen her until the Rochester docked in Long Beach yesterday. On right, Diana Price, a sister, holds Charles, 2 years old, so his father may see him also. Rochester No. 3: Among the men arriving on the Rochester were, left to right: Carl C. Williams, 20, BA-3 [Budget Authority?], from Dayton, Oregon
Kenneth Nielsen, 20, Fireman, from Carroll, Iowa
Henry A. Factor, 19, Seaman, from Maude, Oklahoma
William J. Olinger, 19, from Greenfield, Minnesota, playing a guitar
and Mike L. Acuna, Gunner's Mate First Class, 29 years, from Corpus Christi, Texas. They among first men allowed ashore from Rochester on 30-day leave. Singing 'I Wanna Go Home', which Olinger wrote during return cruise from Japan. Rochester No. 4: Seaman Syl Roberson and wife, Mary, look at daughter, Marsyl Anne, 3 months old, first time he saw her. They are from Culver City. Rochester 5 & 6: Seaman Stanley Ruelman, 22, and wife, Jerri, gaze at son Chris, 3 months old. They live at 1440 San Carlos Drive, Arcadia. Also first time saw son. Rochester No. 7: Edwin Burnham, 23, of New Jersey rushed down gangplank. He found Betty Amantia, 19, of Sun Valley waiting to meet him. Their embrace indicative of engagement. They're to be married in July. He's oil tender. Rochester No. 8: Chief Gunner's Mate Robert Barkhurst and daughter Suzanne kiss wife, Ruth, while other greeters look on and await landing of own love ones. They live at 316 East Neece, Long Beach".
