Description
Photograph of an exterior view of a Sunkist lemon and orange processing plant, showing railroad cars along the side, ca.1910. The lightly colored building with large, arched windows stands on the left behind the several sets of tracks in the foreground. Train cars stand along the tracks on the right wall of the plant while tall bushes stand around the entrance on the front wall. A staircase leads from the front door down to a grass yard which stands raised above the tree-lined sidewalk on the far right. An electrical pole stands at the corner of the yard with lines extending from its top in either direction. Photoprint reads "A typical Southern California orange and lemon packing house. Over 200 Sunkist packing houses pack citrus fruits to be shipped all over the world every day in the year. This packing house has the facilities for packing over 10,000 boxes daily".
