Annotation translation: "South Mahratta." Annotation: "Süd-Mahratta." Note: Datierung nach Aussendungsdatum von Traugott Lutz und Rückreisedatum von Hermann Knittel. Von dem Ausreisedatum von Ph. Stier, 1891, und dem Rückreisedatum von Theodor Lutz, 1889, und durch Vergleich mit den Portraits wurde darauf geschlossen, dass es sich um Traugott und nicht um Theodor Lutz handeln muss. (BFN 12.1998). Note translation: This photograph has been dated by bracketing it with the arrival date of Traugott Lutz and the departure date of Hermann Knittel. NB P. Stier arrived in India in 1891, and Theodor Lutz left India for the last time in 1889. For this reason, and by comparing the portraits of the two men, we have come to the conclusion that it is Traugott Lutz in this group, and not Theodor Lutz. (BFN 12.1998).
