Photograph was edited for publication purposes During World War II, director John Ford, led the Naval Field Photographic Reserve unit, made up of Hollywood cinematographers, actors, and writers, and chronicled the war by shooting films for the Navy. After the war, Ford made a tribute to the unit men who didn't make it back from the war by building the Field Photo Memorial Farm located at 18201 Calvert Street in Reseda. The clubhouse, also known as the Field Photo Farm, became a popular hangout for celebrities and a venue for many charity events. Photograph caption dated March 16, 1959 reads, "Alpha Junior Woman's Club members taste-test mulligan stew for this evening's Hobo Hop at Reseda's Field Foto Farm. From left, standing, are Mmes. Edwin Flues, James J. Hale and Russel P. Simonson. Cook in foreground, is Mrs. Jack W. Hartley, general chairman."
