Photograph caption dated April 6, 1960 reads "Ancient automobile, far left, rolls under upraised Nike missile to begin tour of newly opened section of Ventura Freeway. Gov. Edmund G. Brown presided over ceremonies opening eastern section running from Laurel Canyon boulevard in Studio city to Sepulveda boulevard. Former Gov. Goodwin J. Knight spoke briefly at opening of western section running from Encino avenue to Kelvin avenue in Woodland Hills."
