Typed caption on reverse: "De Forest Day" Luncheon at Ford Exposition A scene in the Dealers' Lounge of the Ford Exposition at the New York World's Fair during the luncheon given in honor of Dr. Lee de Forest, inventor of the audion tube, who is known as the "father of radio." At the table in the foregound (holding cane and napkin) we see Major Mack Horton, United States Army, retired, who was Dr. de Forest's first chief operator and whose invention of the trailing antenna for airplanes was used extensively by the government during the World War. At his right is F. L. Black, in charge of the Ford Exposition; and proceeding from right to left: Dr. de Forest, Miss Vaughn de Leath, original "radio girl" who made her first broadcast for Dr. de Forest in 1919 and who broadcast a program of songs at the luncheon over Station WOR, Mutual Network; W. J. McGonigle, president of the Veteran Wireless Operators Associaiton, under whose sponsorship the "de Forest Day" celebration was held; Mrs. Ben Davis of San Francisco; Miss Eleanor Forbes of San Francisco; and Leonard Linden of San Francisco; Miss Eugenia Farrar, first singer to go on the air for Dr. de Forest in 1907; Miss Dorothy Hall, famous amateur wireless operator who contacted Pitcairn Island when all others failed last year and Mr. O. H. Caldwell, Editor of Radio Today, and former member of the Federal Radio Commission.
