Description
"Rear-Admiral Richard E. Byrd U.S.N. (Retired) and the Executive Committee of the Byrd Aviation Associates express to Heintz and Kaufman, Ltd. their enduring appreciation of the most valuable co-operation in the equipping of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition. It is our privilege to attest, and we most gratefully acknowledge, that without such assistance the accomplishment of the Expedition in the Antarctic would not have been possible." Byrd took specially designed Heintz and Kaufman radio equipment on his expedition tot he South Pole (1928-30), allowing constant communicatoin from the remote station at Little America, as well as during various surveys onto the ice and in the air. Even the dog sleds were outfitted with compact shortwave apparatus. The certificate is not dated, but the dates of the expedition 1928-1930 are at the bottom in Roman numerals.
