Description
This view of the gas pumps and service garages at the O’Neil Brothers Service Station at 13th and L streets was captured on May 12, 1933. In spite of its founders, Joseph and John O’Neil, dying during the 1940s, the company surged to five locations by 1952: as far south as 24th Avenue and Franklin Boulevard and as far north as Fulton and Marconi avenues. They even gained fame in the service station community for the introduction, also in 1952, of a super car vacuum cleaner that was in use at several of its outlets. O’Neil Brothers ceased to operate after 1969.
