Photograph caption dated July 4, 1964 reads, "Directly above is a view of 'downtown Peyton Place,' but it hardly does justice to huge set." Photograph article partially reads, "Some idea of the importance 20th Century-Fox attaches to its new series may be gleaned from the fact that it built the entire downtown section of Peyton Place smack dab in the middle of the lot. Construction took four weeks, cost $150,000 and consumed close to 8,000 man hours. The outdoor replica of Peyton Place's main stem occupies a full three city blocks. It contains the fire department, church, shops, city hall, ship chandlery, bank, town hall, professional building, the newspaper office, etc."
