Description
Photograph of the entrance to the Southern Bell Mine in Bishop, 1895-1910. The mine entrance is at the base of a hill at center and resembles a cave mouth. There is a set of small railroad tracks entering the mine from the foreground at right, and a miner can be seen pushing a cart on the tracks near the entrance. A dog is laying down at left near several metal beams. The hill behind the mine is covered in low brush. Boards are leaning against the hill at right. This was one of the oldest mines in the state and was later owned by E.R. Rudolph.
