Photograph caption reads, "Carlos Cha´vez, Mexico's internationally famous composer, is greeted at International Airport by Mrs. John Vincent, wife of head of the music department at UCLA, following his arrival in Los Angeles aboard a Mexican-Pan American Clipper, Tuesday afternoon, October 12. Cha´vez made a brief stopover visiting with the Vincent's and making last minute changes in the score of his 5th symphony to be published here two weeks hence before he was to board a United Air Lines plane for Portland at 6 P.M., to conduct the Portland Symphony October 17-18. He dismissed the State Department incident of last month concerning his entry 'has nothing---everything is satisfactory.' He conducted the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at that time."
