In the early '70s, when Serra's career was starting to take off, a crew foreman was killed when a steel slab fell during an installation in Minneapolis. Serra says, "I think it kept me clean. I think it gave me a distance". Photograph dated: June 12, 1983.; The two slabs of steel are Richard Serra's sculpture titled "Plunge". It consists of Cor-Ten steel, 2 slabs, 8' by 8' by 9" and was installed for a Richard Serra exhibition at the Larry Gagosian Gallery, 510 North Robertson Blvd., May 14-June 25, 2983.
