Photograph caption dated October 9, 1956 reads, "George C. Johnson, left, 9556 Amboy, Pacoima, reports for work at Marquardt Aircraft Company, Van Nuys, to become the company's 2000th employe [sic]. He is welcomed by Roy E. Marquardt, president. Johnson is an engineer in Test Engineering Division. He formerly had his own engineering business. Marquardt's employment has increased 65 per cent since the beginning of the year, and continues to climb. A total of 3,000 employes [sic] are expected to be on the payroll at the Van Nuys plant by mid-year 1957."
