Description
Large antenna dish sitting horizontally in a large cement lot, with a long, one-story building behind it. Two people are standing underneath the dish. Written on the back of the frame, "Anderson Electric / 466-L Program (Air Force) / 3 Units / Leeds, Alabama / 40' dia / Focal length = 17'." The Air Force's 466L Electromagnetic Intelligence System (ELINT) was part of the United States ground radar system for missile intelligence and warning. This dish is likely for the tracking radar AN/FPS-79, and may actually be 35' diamater, not 40'. The contract was awarded to General Electric; Anderson Electric may have been a subcontractor.
