Photographic portrait of Fig Tree John near Palm Springs, ca.1897. The Cahuillla Indian is shown from his knees to his head and is looking towards the camera. He is wearing a dark suit with a dark vest, white shirt, and dark tie. He has a black top hat on his head. There is a white package under his arm at left and he is holding another unidentified object at right. He is standing in front of a wooden building. Fig Tree John later moved to Aqua Dolce.
