Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph caption dated January 1, 1959 reads, "Smoldering embers are all that remains of this house which was located on Glenview road in Topanga Canyon. Eighty homes were burned as fire in area blackened estimated 10,000 acres and forced evacuation of thousands. Disastrous fire continued to rage unchecked today."
