A report regarding closing operations of the National Japanese American Student Relocation Council. The report covers from May 1, 1946 to June 30, 1946, and regards "the Council's operations during the closing two month period." Topics addressed include financial statements and various aspects of closing operations, including Council staff; treatment of mail; enrollment and referral of students; arrangement for preparation of a historical report; disposal of Council records; and disposition of office equipment and supplies. The report also includes attachments: Statement of Income, Expenditures, and Unexpended Funds, by Periods, from Commencement of Operations to June 30, 1946; Statement of Income, Expenditures, and Unexpended Funds for the Eighteen Months Ended June 30, 1946; Notes to Financial Statements, June 30, 1946; Statement of Income and Expenditures, May, June, 1946; Report on Scholarship Allocations from July, 1942 to June 30, 1946; and related correspondence. Many non-governmental groups sought redress for Japanese Americans incarcerated during World War II. This collection contains reports, correspondence, publicity, and other documents issued by the Committee on Resettlement of Japanese Americans, National Japanese American Student Relocation Council, Pacific Coast Committee on American Principles and Fair Play, YMCA, American Friends Service Committee, and Japanese American Citizens League. These groups sought to provide relief and support for incarcerated Japanese Americans.
