Description
A letter from Kiyoharu "Eddie" Mizoguchi to Hiroji Hosaka. Mizoguchi informed Hosaka that the Japanese in Los Angeles were leaving for the Santa Anita Assembly Center on May 9 and he and his friends had been helping Mrs. Hosaka and Teruo to leave together. The letter was mailed to the Santa Fe Internment camp where Mr. Hosaka had been imprisoned. Handwritten note on the back of the envelope reads: May 11th, 1942, 26. Hiroji Hosaka Family Letters consists of correspondence between Hiroji Hosaka and his family and friends while he was imprisoned in the Santa Fe Detention Station, the Santa Anita Assembly Center, and the Heart Mountain incarceration camp during World War II. Also included are prewar photographs of the Daiichi Rafu Gakuen, that is, a Japanese language school in Los Angeles, and Japanese archery, a photograph of the Heart Mountain camp, and his business cards prior to the war.
