Description
Engraved map, 59 x 48. Paris, 1783. This contains a statement that it was corrected from the one first published in 1750. Vaugondy affected the old Pancius or Hondius names and still kept the long coast line of over forty-two degrees. He, however, employed a few of the Briggs names as alternatives, and was evidently trying to find some connection between the Briggs map and that of Plancius. The correction on this pat of the coast is no doubt shown on an inset map showing California from 35°-75° where we have the Fonte legend displayed in all its glory.
