Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated August 2, 1961 reads "Equipment works on part of 22.3 acres taken from park for freeway." The article partially reads "Why are park lands so susceptible to encroachment? Because it's cheaper to grab park land than buy private property, because of political expediency, because of a weak park program--these are among the reasons generally cited." The Hollywood Freeway is taking the land from North Hollywood Park.
