Close-up view of three buildings right next to each other; on the left side is a dark building with a steeple-like element on top next to a horizontal roof with three tall windows on the second floor& balcony outside second floor;middle building is light colored with "49'er Cafe on bottom as well as "Rooms" on first floor with three tall windows on second floor; building on right is one-storey with "Miller's Sheet Metal Works" on two windows flanking front door. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "'28' Kay street. Above building erected in 1852, immediately after the fire of Nov 2nd, 1852.The first business was Rivett & Co., 'Upholsters, Painters & Paperhangers' 28' Kay st. (Now 122 K), established as Rivett & Coates, in Dec. of 1849. changed to Rivett & Heath, Sept. 1851,,(that name can still be seen on the building)."
