Description
KNTV San Jose broadcast news footage for May 1, 1969; may be combination of the early and late news, includes national, local, sports and weather. Part 1: Dick Reizner reports from Stanford University on the student occupation of Encina Hall, President Dr. Kenneth Pitzer interviewed. Part 2: Silent footage of student demonstration outside of Stanford University's Encina Hall; meeting at Watsonville City Hall to hear complaints from residents about bad housing, particularly with regard to Mexican-Americans (silent). Part 3: Silent footage of cadets receiving their pins/badges; Interview with Santa Clara County Sheriff Charles Prelsnik about newly formed cadet corps. Part 4: Sheriff's Office honors department veterans John Perussina and Francis Gilleran; reporter Bob Haulman continues his look at housing problems facing impoverished in Santa Clara County and talks to Eddie Sanchez about stereotyping in housing, the Mexican-American community. Part 5: San Jose State track coach Ernie Bullard talks about lessons learned and results from this week's meet, critiquing John Carlos, Lee Evans, and Ronnie Ray Smith's performances; representative from California Clippers soccer team invites people to come see them play Club America from Mexico at Spartan Stadium this weekend.
