Louise Tracy, married to Academy Award-winning actor, Spencer Tracy, was the founder of the John Tracy Clinic, a private, non-profit education center for the deaf that began in 1942, and which was named after her son, John, who was born with a hearing impairment. Photograph caption dated January 28, 1964 reads, "Mrs. Spencer Tracy, director of the John Tracy Clinic, watches Tom Dillon, one of two deaf participants in Valley State College's 'Leadership Training Program in the Area of the Deaf' program, 'telephone write' a deaf friend in Washington in first demonstration of cross-country telephoning for the deaf."
