Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
A crowd has gathered near W. Adams Boulevard (upper right) and Hoover Street, where a drunk driver Edmundo Torrez, 51, struck 23-year-old Jorge Cardinas (covered, foreground) and three other people as they sat on the RTD bus bench; a fireman stands watch (right) to prevent by-standers from getting too close to the scene. Cardinas died instantly and one other accident victim died shortly after being taken to California Hospital Medical Center. Torrez attempted to flee after the crash, but was tackled and held down by two teenagers until USC security guards could arrive.
