W. H. Royle - possibly William H. Royle of the Royle-Rose Air Line (Oakland). Maitland and Hegenberger flew the first flight from Oakland and Honolulu. Took off from Oakland on June 28th, landed at Wheeler Field Hawaii June 29th. Flew U.S. Army Fokker C2-3 Bird of Paradise, a tri-motor Fokker monoplane. Upon return, San Francisco held victory celebration ending at City Hall where two awarded gold medals. Additional celebration held in Oakland.
