Description
Both the house and interiors were designed by Weber for the physician Dr. Joseph C. Friedman in the dry high desert of Banning, Calif. Friedman specialized in lung diseases, and the dry air of Banning was thought to help alleviate symptoms of tuberculosis and other ailments. The house was designed to have an attached doctor's office, a central patio, and an insulated roof with screened louvers to help regulate the temperature in the house. Weber employed many modernist design elements, and fused them with a modified hacienda-style to create a very Modern residence.
