HIV/AIDS has been a disaster in Tanzania for the last approx. 20 years. The Church together with e.g. Danmission has had a comprehensive aid program for orphans. And the Government has run large campaigns in order to encourage public awareness and personal responsibility regarding prevention of the disease. On this poster at an approach road to Bukoba is written: ‘Don't be shy! Encourage him/her to wait, to be faithful - or to use a condom.' (Used in the book by Knud Ochsner: HÅND I HÅND - mission og partnerskab i Tanzania, 2006 (pg.170).
