Description
Kyoto Pennington: The Bay Area's Only Lady Glassblower, negative of photograph used for the WAEI newsletter, Distaff Sidebar, December 1965 (9:4) 4. Born and educated in Hokkaido, Japan, Kyoko Hokimoto Pennington came to the United States in 1959. She went to work as an electronic assembler in Varian Associates' Analyitical Instrument Division in 1961 She attended engineering classes at night school and was promoted to the highly skilled glass blowing department. She became a member of WAEI in 1963 and was the only woman member of the International Scientific Glass Blowers Society.
