Description
The city as it was around the turn of the twentieth century. The San Gabriel Mountains provide a scenic backdrop. A handwriting caption in the top margin reads: "Claremont, Calif. view N.E. from Cupola of Holmes Hall." Writing in the left margin reads: "Row of trees on Mesa Ave. (now so. side of Foothill Blvd. by Scripps C. Wall)" and "Roof of Tolman House built 1891 (known as Coyote Inn)." Writing in the bottom margin reads: "Barn of Tolman House," "Gordon House built 1895, 146 E. 7th," and "Colcard House built 1893, 157 E. 7th." Writing in the right margin reads: "Phelps House."
