Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Cota Adobe showing signs of disrepair in Old Town, San Diego, ca.1925. The one-story rancher is shown at center, much of the spackle having eroded away from the now-evident adobe brick beneath. The door, and the two windows that flank it, appear to be boarded shut, and shingles on the roof are either missing, or appear to be loose. A slightly raised dirt path runs just in front of the house, while a wider dirt road is visible in foreground below. Picture file card reads "Built by the Cotas, a descendent was Francisco (Chico) Cotas, last color bearer in the Mexican California Army in 1874, surrendered to Fremont at Cahuenga".
