Description
"Im Diamantenfeld" ("On the diamond field"). Photograph of two men standing on a field of heaped-up earth. One man is bent-forward. In the foreground a small heap of stones with a sign stuck into it is visible. Description on the back reading: "Kilometerweit ist die Erde aufgewühlt – oft so tief, dass der Kies, in dem die Diamanten lagen, mit Kränen herausgeschafft werden muß. Die Arbeit wird von Eingeborenen getan unter Aufsicht von Weißen." ("For kilometers the soil is dug up - often so deep that the gravel wherein the diamonds had lain have to be brought out by cranes. The work is done by indigenes under supervision of whites.")
