Photograph caption dated July 9, 1958 reads "Leo Burton, 20, three-foot, three-inch president of San Francisco motorcycle club, types out his resignation at San Fernando Police Department after he was abandoned by fellow riders in Valley city because he 'couldn't keep up.' His mother sent return fare to 85-pound president while San Fernando police officers Harry Phillips, left, and Bill Elliott, took care of him. Burton's derby proclaims him member of another club, 'Purple People Eaters.'"
