Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
The Ramona Freeway was the earlier name for Interstate 10 and went from downtown Los Angeles to the San Bernardino County line. The Macy Street Bridge was completed in 1926 and decorated with elements of the Spanish Baroque style. It was renamed the Ce´sar E. Cha´vez Bridge in 1994 and declared Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #224 in 1979.
Lumber and other construction material for the Ramona Freeway lay on its roadbed as it goes under the Macy St. Bridge. A billboard advertising Gallo wine is by the bridge on top of the embankment. Rain left puddles along the road. The view is looking east towards L.A. County General Hospital. Photograph dated: April 13, 1943.
