Description
"Makoba women in graduated stages of civilised dress". Group portrait of women, Southern Africa. One of the most tangible changes that missionary influence brought to indigenous societies was the adoption of western style dress in place of traditional clothing. In some instances, girls attending mission schools would have dresses to wear whilst in the mission compound.
