Description
Designed by L.A. Smith, the Beverly Theater was the first vaudeville and movie theater to be built in Beverly Hills. In 1977, after decades of serving as a movie house, the building was closed. The interior was gutted and redesigned to accommodate commercial use; it was occupied by Fiorucci boutique, and later an Israeli bank. Despite hopes that the structure could be saved, it was demolished in 2005.
A woman is looking at a lion in a car, parked on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. The Beverly Theater, located at 206 N. Beverly Drive, is visible in the background. The motion picture "45 Fathers" starring Jane Withers is advertised on the marquee.
