Photograph was edited for publication purposes Newhall, named after businessman Henry Newhall, is the southernmost and oldest district of Santa Clarita. Prior to the 1987 consolidation into the city of Santa Clarita, it was an unincorporated town. Photograph caption dated November 25, 1963 reads "Edith Happy, Newhall, performs as a trick rider in several of the rodeos she attends each year. Here Mrs. Happy, dressed in a green satin outfit, poses with horse, Stitches. She's arena secretary for national finals which open Tuesday night.
