Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated March 7, 1961 partially reads, "Storming the battlements of Army red tape is no mean feat, especially if the siege force is a lone housewife from Burbank. But the strength of Mrs. Melva Devine, 940 N. Frederic St., was the strength of 40 - the number of members in her Army Mothers and Wives Club of California - when she demanded recognition during a tour of Army bases in Europe. The 48-year-old club-woman successfully out-maneuvered lesser Army officials and strategically won audience with a four-star general and assurance of an unhampered tour." Mrs. Devine shown back at home after bucking red tape to visit son.
