Bust-length portrait. 2013-3239. Marco Fontana was born in Cerisola, Italy in 1849 to Giuseppe and Biana Fontana. Family immigrated to the United States in the late 1850's. Mark came to California in 1867, drawn by gold rush. In 1870's, worked in the fruit canning and shipping industry, establishing his own firm, M. J. Fontana & Co. Served on boards of California Fruit Canners' Association, California Wine Association, Italian-Swiss Agricultural Colony. Died in 1922. Doris Maslach;
