Photograph caption dated June 18, 1958 reads, "Members of Alaskan National Guard's First Eskimo Scout battalion disembark from plane at Van Nuys Airport to be greeted by junior chamber officials and Laura Winston, Miss Studio City. They will provide honor guard for Alaskan Governor Mike Stepovich in big Jaycee parade in Los Angeles. Eskimos said that Valley seems like tropics to them. They say they're glad they left furs at home."
