Photograph of a Yokut Indian women and two boys preparing peaches, Tule River Reservation near Porterville, California, ca.1900. They sit outside -- she on a chair or stool, they on the ground -- with two large metal tubs of peaches between them. One contains whole peaches, the other pitted peach halves. The surrounding ground is littered with peach pits. A round tin lid, a hat, and a blanket or clothing sit on a large wooden box behind the woman. A dog sleeps on the ground at left behind the group. In the background at left is a boxy native dwelling consisting of wooden frame and tarps.
