Description
Note: "Nr. 21 & 22 [QC-30.016.0016-0017] stellen die bekannten Missionsgebäude in Cannanore dar vom Exercierplatz aus gesehen. Das eine Bild mit meinem Reisekarren in der Einfahrt zeigt zur äussersten Rechten den Missionskramladen
die Häuser, die sich hinten die Gasse hinauf anschliessen, sind von unseren Christen bewohnt. Das hervortretende linke Eckhaus der Gasse ist die Malayalim [sic] Schule und dahinter die englische Schule, über deren Einfahrt das Kreuz der römischen Kapelle durch den Palmenwald hindurch blickt. Der Schuppen weiter links von dem Missionsgehöfte dient zur Unterbringung der Wagen, die zur Missionskapelle gefahren kommen. ..." (3. Quartalsbericht 06.10.1860: 2).
Note translation: "Nos 21 & 22 [QC-30.0016.0016-0017] show the well-known mission buildings in Cannanore, seen from the Exercise Place. One picture with my travelling cart in the entrance shows on the extreme right the mission store
the houses which you can see lining the alleyway behind it are lived in by our Christians. The house on the corner on the left, which does not correspond to the line of the others, is the Malayalim [sic] [medium] School. Behind it is the English [medium] School. You can see the cross of the Roman Catholic chapel peeping through the palm trees above its entrance. The shed on the left of the mission compound is used to shelter the wagons which are driven to the mission chapel .... " (3. Quarterly Report by C.G. Richter, 6. Oct. 1860, p. 2).
