Steam shovel 40 ft. below sidewalk, breaking up blue clay which is handled by clam shovel into trucks. At completion steam shovel was 60 ft. below sidewalk and had to be knocked down complete and removed with the clam shovel" -- view 3 (1993-0112). Taken 10-16-25. Constructed in 1926 as joint project of Pacific Electric Railway and Subway Terminal Corporation, Terminal consisted of twelve-story office building and two subterranean levels for streetcar terminal.
