Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated May 16, 1962 partially reads, "'When I learned to cook, we had to start our recipes from scratch,' said Mrs. Mary Wargo of North Hollywood, a genial, 72-year-old great-grandmother who prefers the 'old ways' to supermarket packages. 'About the only difference between cooking today and cooking in the early 1900s is the ready-made foods you can buy at the market. The ingredients are basically the same. But I love to cook,' she emphasized, 'and I still start from scratch.' Mrs. Wargo, last year's president of the North Hollywood Grandmothers Club, is a member of the Degree of Pocahontas and has been a member of the Rebekahs for 35 years."
