Description
A pamphlet for an event hosted by the Court of the Great Northern Imperial Empire in 1998. The Imperial Empire was vital to LGBTQ+ community efforts along the Pacific Coast during the latter half of the twentieth century, raising money and working to secure LGBT+ rights from Canada to California. The Imperial Empire is the parent organization of Sacramento's Imperial Court, which (like its sister organizations) hosts drag competitions, pageants, and other community activities. An issue of Mom . . . Guess What! (Sacramento's first gay/lesbian newspaper founded in 1978) was published on April 15, 1998 that put an announcement for the organization's Silver Jubilee Coronation celebration on its front cover. The event would be held ten days later at the Turn Verein Hall, 3349 J Street. Page 12 of the issue exhibits a photograph of the then reining Empress XXIIII Danielle, who is noted in the pamphlet.
