Photograph caption dated January 23, 1956 reads, "Car righted in rail disaster - Rescue operations under glare of huge searchlights continue throughout night in wake of Southern California's biggest railroad disaster which killed 29 persons and injured 120 passengers after two car San Diego commuter rolled on its side while rounding curve at Soto street and Washington boulevard in Los Angeles. Ambulances, police and clergy sped from all pats of city to aid disaster victims."
