Description
"Baziya. Utabeliza. Tembu-Knaben nach der Schule. Sie haben den Mantel der Wissenschaft und Gelehrsamkeit abgeworfen und warten auf ihr Festessen. Sie erhalten vom Rest des Fleisches für sich zum Braten am Spieß" ("Baziya. Utabeliza. Tembu boys after school. They have dropped the coat of science and scholarliness and are waiting for their feast. They get something from the rest of the meat for themselves for roasting on a spit"). Three naked boys standing with their back to the photographer in the front. Two of them are holding sticks in their hands. Beside them a bigger boy with a blanket on his shoulders and a stick in his right hand and two young men with caps, necklaces and bracelets. One is holding something in his left hand (maybe a piece of meat). Next to them several other people sitting on a mat with certain things, maybe food, on it. In the background other people standing or sitting next to a hut.
Wilhelm Friedrich Karl Blohm, born in 1884 in Keffenbrinck (Germany), was a carpenter. In 1911 he married Marie Bürger. He started his missionary work in 1911 in Unyamwezi (East Africa). After being imprisoned by the Belgians from 1916 till 1917 he returned to Germany. From 1922 till 1945 he worked as a missionary in Baziya (South Africa). He died in Baziya in 1945.
